Koh Samui Attractions and Tourist

Attractions on Koh Samui

Of course, there are amazing beaches that primarily attract tourists to Koh Samui in Thailand. The scenery is also strikingly beautiful so a "jungle trip" is something you should include on your holiday trip. Otherwise, Koh Samui offers some attractions in the form of theme parks with everything from snakes to butterflies. If you are interested in culture then visit a temple. Koh Samui offers some of these, including little Wat Na Phra Lan on Mae Nam beach north of the island, [see photo first in article]. Otherwise, it is the Big Buddha that is literally the main attraction.

The Big Buddha

This is probably the most popular attraction on Koh Samui. The golden fifteen meter tall Buddha figure can be found near the airport north of Koh Samui.

Attractions on Koh Samui

Magic Buddha Garden

Visit the Samui hillsides and find the magical Buddha Garden containing a variety of statues and Buddha figures. Most impressive is that everything is made by one and the same man. Expect a 2 hour car ride inland from the resort town of Lamai. Join an organized tour or hire a jeep!

Hose Farmen

The snake farm offers poisonous snakes, scorpions and sometimes cockfights. The show is held every day at 1100 and 1400. The snake farm is located to the south of Koh Samui at Baan Phang Ka.

Paradise Park Farm

The island's newest attraction, and perhaps the largest, offers Koh Samui's highest mountains, rainforests, exotic birds, wildlife and much more. Location is south of the island, but slightly further inland than the Serpent Farm.

Butterfly Park

Na Tian is the name of a large butterfly park located south of Koh Samui. In addition to beautiful butterflies of all rainbow colors, there is an insect museum and several other attractions.

The waterfall Na muang

Na Muang consists of two waterfalls with the highest falling of 80 meters and being Koh Samui's most beautiful. The second waterfall is only about 18 meters. Na Muang is located 10 kilometers south of Nathon at Ban Thurian. NB! The highest waterfall can only be reached by using the legs the last bit. Expect about a 30 minute walk.

Hin Ta - Hin Ya

The name refers to two strange rock formations that, with a little imagination, resemble the noble parts of a woman and a man. The myth says that an old married couple drowned in a boat accident and their bodies were washed ashore and turned into rocks. You will find the rock formation all the way south on the island.

What Plai Name

If you only want to visit a temple (Wat) during your holidays on Koh Samui (and have children or youth) then the choice is Wat Plai Naem near the Big Buddha northeast of the island.

Wat Plai Naem offers, among other things, a giant statue of the goddess Guanyin with its 18 arms, a number of other magnificent statues and a large carp dam where you can feed the fish if you donate some money to the temple.
Here is just to find the camera.
